Department of Chemistry is a part of       Institute of Chemistry, Technology and Metallurgy

The Division of Instrumental Analysis of the Department of Chemistry is one of the most complete and best equipped in Yugoslavia.
Besides various instruments (gas and liquid chromatographs, IR spectrometer, mass spectrometer...), the Division has a laboratory for elemental microanalysis, the only one in Serbia.
By combining methods of mass, NMR and IR spectrometry, gas and liquid chromatography, and microanalysis, structures of almost all organic molecules and biomolecules can be determined; pollutants in air, water and soil can be analyzed, as well as alcoholic beverages, medicinal plants, fats and oils, essential oils, varnishes, paints, plastics etc.
