4. RESEARCH EXPERIENCE AND SCIENTIFIC INTEREST
Kinetics and mechanisms of solvolytic reactions. Study of structural effects on the rate and course of organic chemical reactions. Synthesis of seco-steroid products. Functionalisation of normal and seco-steroids. Synthesis of pyrazoles and pyrrolidines. Photochemistry of isoxazolidine derivatives. Lead tetraacetate oxidation of alcohols. Nitrene intermediates in synthesis of heterocycles.
Application of semiempirical and ab initio molecular-orbital methods to the study of various chemical reactions. Computational characterization of reaction intermediates and transition states. Evaluation of reaction rates using MO calculations. Study of excited states, particularly of exciplexes.
Experimental and theoretical study of the relationships between chemical struture and (re)activity of chemical compounds (including functional materials).
Member of the organizing Comitee of IV Yugoslav Symposium on Organic Chemistry 1987., and of European Symposium on Organic Chemistry 1989. (ESOC 6).

Was in charge of laboratory classes in inorganic, analytical and organic chemistry for students of chemistry, chemical engineering and mining engineers.
Was lecturing organic chemistry and theoretical chemistry in the Departments of Chemistry at University of Belgrade, University in Pristina, and at University in Kragujevac (Yugoslavia).
Supervisor of 10 PhD dissertations and 9 MSc theses.
