Scientific interest

Molecular biology, biochemistry and physiology, with the special focus on the role of redox regulation of fundamental cellular processes (proliferation, hyperplasia, angiogenesis, mitochondriogenesis) in pathological and physiological states, as well as during adaptation to specific environmental conditions (hibernation). The central interest is investigation of mechanisms of action of reactive oxygen and nitrogen species, by focusing research on redox-sensitive molecules and processes, and redox sensitive transcription factors, especially in terms of possibilities for changing the cellular redox status for therapeutic use in a treatment of severe metabolic disorders, metabolic syndrome, obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular and neurodegenerative diseases and male infertility.
