Hours of instruction: |
Weekly: four hours of lectures + seven hours of labwork (4+0+7) |
Goals: |
The aim of the course is to teach students basic principles of isolation, purification, identification, characterization and structural analysis of the most important groups of natural products. This includes getting knowledge about the basic roles of specific compounds in the organisms from which they originate. The other goal is to train students in experimental skills such as isolation, purification and characterization of selected natural products. |
Outcome: |
At the end of the course students will be familiar with basic theoretical and experimental knowledge in isolation, purification, identification, characterization and structural analysis of the most important groups of natural products and their basic roles in the organisms from which they originate. |
Teaching methods: |
Lectures, experimental exercises, theoretical excercise, calculus, tutorial. |
Extracurricular activities: |
Beside adopting theoretical knowledge during lectures, student is required to pass 5 tests; to collect and process the literature in agreement with subject professor and to write tutorial which he/she will publicly defend. |
